What the figures are good for
Positions are computed from VSOP87 for the planets and an ELP-derived theory for the Moon, by way of Astronomy Engine, and agree with NOVAS and JPL Horizons to within about one arcminute. Eclipse and phase times are accurate to the minute.
That is more than enough to plan an evening's observing, and nowhere near enough for navigation, surveying, spacecraft operations or anything else where being wrong has consequences. Use a primary source for those. The figures here are offered in good faith and without warranty.
Third-party material
Launch schedules come from Launch Library 2 and news headlines from the Spaceflight News API, both operated by The Space Devs. Photographs shown alongside them originate with the agencies and operators concerned; copyright remains with each owner. We show them at thumbnail scale with attribution and a link to the source, and we host our own copies so that no publisher pays for our traffic.
If you hold rights in an image and would rather it were not shown, write to boris@thedevelopers.be and it will be removed.
Using this site
The pages are free to read and free to link to. Quoting a figure with a link back is welcome. Systematically copying the generated pages, or scraping them to rebuild the same tables elsewhere, is not — the underlying astronomy is public, so compute it yourself from the same open sources rather than lifting ours.
We do our best to keep the site available and correct, but it is offered as it is. We are not liable for loss arising from its use or unavailability, nor for the content of any site we link to.
Applicable law
Belgian law applies, and the courts of Wanzele have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory protection you enjoy as a consumer in your country of residence.
